Prakash was born on July 1, 1944, in Hyderabad, India. In 1964, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, followed by a Master of Science in Zoology in 1966, both from Osmania University in Hyderabad. During his time at Osmania University, he met the love of his life, Mahmooda.
In 1968, Prakash moved to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. in Genetics and Physiology at Mississippi State University, completing it in 1970. He continued his academic journey with a postdoctoral fellowship at the same university, which he completed in 1973.
Prakash began his career as an Assistant Professor of Biology in Birmingham, Alabama. He remained in the teaching profession until 1981. Following this, he joined Mead Johnson Nutritional Company, a division of Bristol-Myers Squibb, to further his professional endeavors.
At Mead Johnson, Prakash rose to the position of District Sales Manager in 1989 and relocated to Rochester, New York, where he led a team of eight employees. Under his leadership, the Rochester District became the top-performing district in the Northeast, earning several prestigious awards.
In 1994, he moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where he continued his career with Mead Johnson. He retired in March 2020, planning to embark on a long-anticipated trip to Europe. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic forced him to cancel his travel plans.
